Despite 'Melbourne weather' trying to stop us, and then a family of ducks taking over the pool, our students had an amazing day at our Swimming Sports at Lancefield Swimming Pool. Students competed against  Pyalong Primary School, Tooborac Primary School and Tallarook Primary School throughout the day which was full of laughs, great sportsmanship and determination. Congratulations to all who competed, and to those who walked away with medals!

This year’s theme of ‘Building Connections’ recognised the importance of schools, families and community groups coming together to support learning. Building connections provides a richer and more diverse learning experience for all students.

Our students visited Kilmore, where they met with some of our local CFA volunteers. Students learnt about the CFA and how important their role in our community is, then got to explore the hoses and trucks.

Students also visited the Kilmore Library throughout the day. Our Grade Foundation-3 students learnt how to use the library including finding and borrowing books of interest to them. They also worked through a Story time session with follow up activities. Our students in grades 4-6 were also taught about the functioning of the library, then had a robotics demonstration and lesson.

Between our experiences, students played at Hudson Park. How lucky we are to live in such an amazing community. All students had a fantastic day!

Athletics Day- 18th August 2021

What an exciting day the students had!

We started our day with our 100 metre sprints, where students barracked for their house mates and peers.
Students then separated into their age levels and worked through a rotation of games and activities.
Junior students had a laugh with skipping, mini hurdles, Frisbees and Fox-Tail throws. Senior students worked through and recorded their distances for discuss, shot put, long jump and triple jump.
We then joined our house groups and played some whole school games. These were an amazing way to see our Senior and Junior students working together and cheering for one another in some fun and supportive balloon race competitions. A massive Congratulations to all students for showing resilience when their team may have gone out!
Finally we had our Willow 1000! And what an event to end on. We accessed the paddock next to the school and our Grade 3-6 students ran the massive 1000 metre distance. We saw determination, frustration, exhaustion and elation and are so proud that all students had a go! Massive congratulations to those that came in in the top 3 for each age group! Also, a huge congratulations to those who felt like they wouldn’t make it, but never gave up and persisted to the end!
Overall, we had a fantastic day and the behaviour displayed today made the staff proud! Although we couldn’t have our families involved, we still managed to support one another and create an atmosphere of excitement and engagement!
A massive thank you to Miss Smith for her organisation and to our parent helpers Sam, Natalie and Lisa.
