Junior School Council

At Willowmavin Primary School, we seek to build a school where student voice is sought after, listened to and acted upon. Our Junior School Council is our student representative body that provides the avenue for students to have a say in the decision making processes of the school.  They are a hardworking and fun group of students that meet every Monday during recess time, under the guidance of a teacher.

WPS JSC 2022

Junior School Council plays a positive role in creating a school environment that is friendly, fun and community-minded through promoting our school values of Be Your Best, Respect, Resilience and Safe.

Members have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by being a Class Representative, where they visit their representative grade fortnightly to seek feedback, suggestions and ideas from their peers about ways they can continue to improve our school, and ways they can contribute to the wider community. They collaborate to make decisions based on student voice and report back to the whole school each week at assembly. They work together to organise and host activities and events to acknowledge special days, and to fundraise for the school and for the community organisations they choose to support.

In Term 1, Junior School Council are working on the following events:

  • Schools Clean Up Day (Friday 4 March)

To acknowledge 'Clean Up Australia Day', JSC organised a whole-school yard clean up. It was so

successful, they plan to make it a regular activity!

  • National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence (Friday 18 March) WPS Fundraiser.

JSC will  host a casual clothes day to promote "Kindness Culture", where everyone is

encouraged to be themselves. There will be other special activities to fundraise for the renovation of         the WPS Buddy Bench area. More details to come!

  • Good Friday Appeal (last week of term) Community Fundraiser.

Event planning in progress - watch this space!
